Sports Hernias

Athletic pubalgia, or sports hernia, causes chronic groin and lower abdominal pain in athletes. Our treatment targets the core and hip muscle imbalances that drive this condition — conservatively when possible, and post-surgically when needed.

Common Symptoms

  • Groin or lower abdominal pain during activity
  • Pain with sprinting, cutting, or kicking
  • Pain that improves with rest but returns with sport
  • Tenderness in the lower abdomen or pubic area

Our Treatment Approach

  • Core and adductor strengthening programs
  • Hip flexibility and mobility work
  • Progressive sport-specific loading
  • Return-to-cutting and sprinting progressions
