SHAWN HERLONG
Owner, Physical Therapist (PT, DPT)
Shawn Herlong is the owner and one of the physical therapists of Herlong Sports Physical Therapy, working with patients out of Campanaro Strength & Conditioning in Marriottsville, MD and MadLab Performance in Eldersburg, MD. Shawn is a physical therapist with more than 7 years of experience in the field.
Shawn knew from a young age that he had a passion for sports and that he wanted to build a career in the athletic industry. His experience as an athlete provided him with a look into the role that injuries unfortunately play in the lives of many athletes, motivating him to forge a career in helping people do what they love.
Shawn founded Herlong Sports Physical Therapy in March 2021 because he wanted to be able to cater to athletes and their needs. With his own practice, Shawn is able to foster an environment where his team of therapists can challenge athletes in a way that meets the demands of their sport so that they are adequately prepared to perform at the highest level possible. HSPT provides cutting-edge care backed by the latest research that allows patients to rehab in a way that not only gets them back to their sport, but prevents future injury.
Shawn loves being able to connect with patients, develop friendships and help people that otherwise might be underserved because of the demands of their sport. Shawn believes that traditional physical therapy typically does not meet the needs of the athlete, and that HSPT remedies that gap in the industry.
A native of Southern Maryland, Shawn attended Lackey High School where he played football, baseball, and was a part of the wrestling team. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Towson University, where he was captain of the club baseball team. He received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from the University of Maryland.
Shawn resides in Reisterstown, MD with his wife Amy, their daughter Reese and their husky Crash. In his free time, Shawn enjoys golfing, fishing, home projects (he helped build his family’s childhood home!), and spending time with his friends and family.
